Mixed Media White Peony Painting Workshop

By popular demand, I will be teaching how to paint a beautiful white peony arrangement with (mostly) watercolours!

The back story: I was working on-site for one of my favourite clients recently, painting watercolour florals (and having the best time, as I do). I actually managed to get some decent photos and videos of my work for once (I’m normally terrible at this) and shared some white peonies that I had painted and was super proud of. I ended up getting so many compliments and questions about these particular florals that I figured a workshop was necessary, and so here we are.

Peonies are by far one of the most requested flowers at live painting events, and they can be tricky to paint since they are so fluffy and layered (especially when time is limited!). I don’t know about you but I’m obsessed with those white peonies with the yellow centres, but white can be really tricky to capture with enough dimension and visual interest. I’m excited to share the techniques I used for painting these beauties!

• A step by step tutorial on how to paint a white peony arrangement (I usually draw/paint very intuitively, but I actually found a pretty distinct step by step method for successfully painting white flowers)
• Tips for painting variations of the main arrangement that I’m teaching, so you can paint alternate versions, make it your own, and use the same base techniques to create new & fresh designs for your clients when working under pressure! (See the last photo below for an idea of a variation we will cover)
• Lots of tips and tricks for painting with watercolour, but also for mixing mediums (I actually use both watercolour and acrylic for these florals, and I will show you how to do that + talk about exploring that further)
